KXLP’s nighttime DJ, Cari, grew up on a farm near Waldorf, MN. She learned about her love of music at the age of 3 when she would continuously blare her parent’s house radio much to their dismay.

Throughout her tween years Cari would lay on the floor of her bedroom every night and listen to the DJ’s introduce songs while trying to write down all of the lyrics. Too nervous to call in and request a tune she would just wait for the DJ to play her favorite rock n roll tunes.

Her passion for music influenced Cari’s decision to study Radio Broadcasting at Brown Institute and take an internship at ABC Radio with 93X. When it was time to break into on-air stardom, Cari contacted the one station she grew up listening to for years, KXLP FM, where she has been a staple since 2001.

Aside from spending time with her family, Cari attends ALOT of local and national concerts with her husband, Ben. They are self-proclaimed music junkies and she’s grateful to have found someone with a strong music obsession.

Cari has a pool of useless music knowledge. “It just sits there and collects dust,” explains Cari. “Once in awhile someone with throw a wrench in the mix with an off-the-wall music related question. I love ciphering thru the files and rattling off the answer they’re looking for.”

When it comes to sports, Cari is a true Minnesotan in every sense. She bleeds Viking purple in the fall and screams at the tv when the Twins can’t pull through with a win. “It’s frustrating as a fan but I’ll never root for any other team,” she says.

Aside from keeping busy with her 2 year old daughter, Dakota, and infant son, Ryder, Cari's other hobbies include watching random cable networks such as National Geographic, History Channel, A & E, Food Network, E! and HGTV. You may also find her sifting through a local bookstore, craft sale or on a bike trail.

Some of Cari’s favorite classic rock artists include: Bob Seger, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Beatles and Janis Joplin.
